Keith Haring

Keith Haring (1958- 1990) The Keith Haring Altarpiece Silkscreen 31" X 41" 1989

The role of the artist is to interpret and translate life. With his simple and accessible style, Keith Haring developed a remarkable visual language. He used his now familiar symbols-the barking dog, the radiant baby, the dancing person, the heart-to encourage thought and dialogue about social and political issues. This is an original poster commemorating the AIDS Memorial Chapel Project (The Life of Christ) / McGow Foundation at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. The altarpiece was the artist's last work, completed two weeks before his death from AIDS in 1990.
